Springbok
Life Sciences

Springbok’s AI-based technology segments and analyzes musculoskeletal (MSK) data for comprehensive muscle health analysis.

Springbok precisely quantifies individual muscle volume and quality, fat fraction, left-right asymmetries, as well as scar tissue, edema, tendon and bone morphology to drive better health and performance outcomes.

Muscle Volume

Springbok provides muscle volume metrics at the individual muscle and group level. These measurements are compared against sex-specific or combined normative data to identify larger or smaller muscles than expected.

Muscle Asymmetry

Asymmetry percentages between the left and right sides are calculated for each muscle and functional muscle group. The degree of imbalance is denoted on the 3D model based on how far each muscle is from its expected bounds.

Muscle Fat Infiltration

Fat replacement of healthy muscle tissue is a characteristic feature of muscle-wasting conditions associated with loss of muscle function and health. Springbok precisely measures the amount of fat infiltration within the muscle and can provide pixel-by-pixel analyses to detect muscle composition changes over time.

CSA

Precision tracking of changes in muscle structure over time can provide insights into progression mechanisms for injury and disease conditions. Springbok’s CSA muscle analysis details muscle volume and fat infiltration along the muscle length, providing in-depth data on muscle composition.

Scar Tissue & Edema

Scar tissue and edema can impair joint movement, reduce muscle strength, and inhibit exercise ability. Springbok’s technology identifies and measures scar tissue, intramuscular, and extramuscular edema to help with injury management, recovery, and return-to-activity decisions.

Muscle Fat infiltration

Muscle Fat Infiltration

Infiltration of fat and atrophy of skeletal muscle tissue is associated with poor health. Muscle atrophy can increase with physical inactivity, injury and aging, impacting long-term health. Springbok quantifies the fat within the muscle and enables objective tracking over time to improve longevity.

Relative Muscle Contribution

Relative Muscle Contribution

Studies have shown that how muscles within a unit relate to each other is important for optimal function. Springbok quantifies the relative weighting of each muscle to the unit as a whole, providing better understanding of shoulder development patterns.

A Better View of Health

Springbok’s technology informs research, clinical trials, diagnosis, tracking, and intervention for muscle conditions.

Efficiently process MRI scans muscle-by-muscle

We provide detailed analysis of muscles in specific regions, as well as the full body. We visualize and quantify skeletal structures like bones and tendons to drive a better understanding of their relationship with surrounding muscles.

3D volumetric analyses for precise detection of changes in muscle composition over time

Precise, repeatable detection of muscle change over time by measuring raw muscle volume, identifying muscle imbalance and development levels, quantifying fat infiltration volume and fat fraction, and pixel by pixel fat distribution.

Individualized, patient-specific reports

Opportunity to distribute patient facing reports through an interactive viewer and static report. Convenient and objective analysis for patients, increased information for care teams, and access to interactive muscle models with key findings.

Population-wide analytics & functional data pairing

Understanding of muscle-related disease progression and identification of population-specific phenotypes by creating specialized databases and pairing imaging data with functional information to reveal structure and function relationships.
